Church Recreation Workers Bring Hope to Children on the Court

In the midst of the rubble, a basketball court has become a sanctuary. Every afternoon, volunteers from local churches gather children of all ages to play sports, sing songs, and share stories of hope. For many of these children, it is the only moment of the day when they can forget the chaos around them.

"These kids have lost so much," says Pastor Carlos Méndez, who coordinates the program. "But when they are on the court, they smile again. We are not just teaching them to dribble or shoot. We are teaching them that they are loved, that they are not alone, and that their future is not defined by this tragedy."

The initiative, supported by Hope en Venezuela, has reached over 200 children in the hardest-hit communities. Each session includes a moment of reflection and prayer, giving children the tools to heal emotionally and spiritually while having fun.
